From 1987 the standard Shadow 1100 was reworked with a longer fork, a stretched wheelbase, a lower seat and a smaller tank, along with a 19-inch front wheel and a fatter rear tyre. Output dropped from the original's tune to a softer, torque-led character with a hydraulically operated clutch. Reviewers saw it as a style-led, chrome-heavy boulevard cruiser that pulled well low down but was happiest on straight roads.
